Polyester suture is a non-absorbable, sterile, surgical suture composed of Poly (ethylene terephthalate). Our uniformly coats its Polyester sutures, providing for an improvement in the physical properties of the suture. High quality materials, combined with precise braiding mechanisms, nearly eliminate the occurrence of post-operative suture fragments in the tissue. Unlike absorbable, and some non absorbable sutures, our Polyester is not subject to degradation, or known to lose tensile strength in vivo.

Distinctive Characteristics of Braided Polyester Sutures

•Coated Polyester allows for an easier passage of the braided strands through the tissue allowing for smother usage and less irritation.
•It provides for minimal breakage, and thus eliminates the need to remove irritating suture fragments postoperatively.
•Provides excellent pliability (malleable).
•Excellent handling qualities.
•Smooth tie-down properties.
•Dyed for good visibility in the surgical arena.

PDS Sutures or PDO Sutures (Polydioxanone Sutures)

Polydioxanone suture is made from polymerizing para dioxanone monomer. PDS sutures provide wound support for longer periods up to 50 days and offers far superior tensile strength and outstanding pliability. Its monofilament structure provides good handling properties and excellent knot security. Absorption of suture is by simple hydrolysis within 180 days from implantation day. Absorption of polydioxanone suture is reliable and predictable.

PDS Sutures or PDO Sutures (Polydioxanone Sutures)

Polydioxanone sutures are ideal for use in general orthopaedic surgery, sub cuticular, gastro intestinal tract, paediatric cardiovascular surgery, sheath closure and general surgery. PDS sutures alo cause minimal tissue reaction

Catgut Sutures

Material: Catgut, a natural absorbable suture is obtained by longitudinally slitting the intestinal submucosa of sheep and goat, twisting the ribbons and joining them in wet condition giving monofilament finish. Available in Plain (ivory colour) and Chromic in dark brown colour.

Tissue Reaction: Moderate. Plain catgut enjoys lower tissue reaction as compared to chromicised.

Applications: General closure, Opthalmic, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics/Gynaecology and Gastro-intestinal Tract Surgery.

Choice: Needled and Pre-Cut Sterile Sutures conforming to USP Standards.

Catgut Sutures

Caution: Avoid using where long term tissue approximation is needed. Absorption is faster in infected tissues.

Absorption: Absorption by enzymatic hydrolysis and starts loosing tensile strength on implantation from 12-15 days for Catgut Plain and 18-21 days for Catgut Chromic.
